Wisconsin lands commitment from Old Dominion transfer QB Colton Joseph
The Badgers land one of their top targets early in the portal in quarterback Colton Joseph.
A big domino for the Wisconsin football team in the transfer portal has fallen. Old Dominion transfer Colton Joseph has committed to the Badgers and will presumably be QB1 for the Badgers heading into the 2026 season.
Joseph is a two-year starter for the Monarchs, but really broke out this past season, throwing for 2,624 yards and 21 touchdowns. He showed his dual-threat ability, hitting the century mark on the ground by running for 1,007 yards and 13 touchdowns en route to winning the Sun Belt Conference Offensive Player of the Year.
Joseph hopped into the portal after his breakout season. According to On3, he is the 17th-ranked QB in the portal and the 125th overall player.
With the addition of Joseph, the Badgers have added their presumed starter through the transfer portal in each of the first four years under Luke Fickell. Unfortunately for Fickell, we haven’t seen any of those quarterbacks make it through a full season. The fourth time is the charm, right?
Unlike the other quarterbacks, who you could classify as ‘lame duck’ quarterbacks with just one year left, Colton Joseph will have more than one year of eligibility remaining. The new Wisconsin QB will have two years left to play.
The Badgers’ work is far from over. Between the large senior class and the 20+ players hitting the portal, they have plenty of work to do to fill out this roster.
They have a good number of players visiting this weekend that they are looking to lock down, in addition to Joseph. This is just the beginning, but it’s hard to complain about the Badgers’ start in the portal.
It looks like the money that McIntosh promised is being put to use early in the transfer portal.
