Wisconsin lands a commitment from Iowa State transfer running back Abu Sama
The Badgers landed a big commitment from Iowa State transfer Abu Sama.
The Wisconsin Badgers are getting to work early in the transfer portal, hosting a number of their top targets in the portal this weekend. Getting these targets on campus right away gives them a chance to close on them before they even leave Madison and set foot on another campus.
That strategy appears to be paying off so far. The Badgers have landed Iowa State safety Carson Van Dinter, a Wisconsin native, and Bowling Green tight end Jacob Harris.
But now, the Badgers have landed their biggest target so far: Iowa State running back Abu Sama, according to Nick Osen of 247Sports. The junior running back had 732 yards and five touchdowns for the Cyclones this past season while sharing the backfield with Carson Hansen.
Sama will bring a veteran presence to a running back room that includes Darrion Dupree and Gideon Ituka, as the backs who are returning from last season.
According to the On3 transfer portal rankings, Sama is the No. 7 running back in the portal and the No. 81 overall player at the time of his commitment.
The veteran running back will have one year of eligibility remaining.
