Wisconsin Football recruiting updates: August 8, 2025
News and notes from the recruiting side of Wisconsin football.

Things on the recruiting side of Wisconsin Football are somewhat slow right now, as they are in the dead period until September 1. But there is never truly a time in college football when recruiting is ‘dead.’
Here are some of the important news and notes of recruiting for the Wisconsin Football program in early August.
The Badgers are fighting to keep their prized possession
Wisconsin is going to have to work to keep Amari Latimer, who is arguably the Badgers’ top committed player in their 2026 class, in the fold. But that’s nothing new when you have a player as highly-regarded as Latimer in your class.
Since the four-star back committed to the Badgers in July, some big-time programs have been working hard to get Latimer on their campuses for a visit, with the idea of potentially flipping the current Badger commit.
Both the in-state Georgia Bulldogs and the Florida State Seminoles have turned up the heat on their recruitment of Latimer. The Seminoles don’t currently have a running back in their 2026 class and are zeroing in on Latimer.
There are no indications that he will even take a visit to either school, let alone consider flipping schools. However, in college football these days, the Badgers need to continue recruiting their committed players as much as non-committed players to keep them in the class.
A second Wisconsin commit could be on flip watch
Speaking of needing to recruit players already committed to the Badgers, defensive lineman Djidjou Bah gave his commitment to Wisconsin at the start of June after his official visit with the Badgers.
Since then, he also has had some bigger schools come calling, and it appears he is at the very least listening.
Since his commitment to Wisconsin, Bah has taken an official visit to Missouri. At the time, it seemed a little odd, but ultimately nothing came of it. Then both Penn State and the Deion Sanders-led Colorado Buffaloes have offered the 3-star defensive lineman a scholarship, which he has publicly posted about on X.
Since it's a dead period, there's not a whole lot that has happened, but as soon as the season rolls on, if he starts taking gameday visits to other schools, I'd be a little more worried about the Badgers’ chances of hanging onto him.
Wisconsin is getting involved with one of the top 2027 prospects in the country
Running backs coach Devon Spalding extended an offer to Myson Johnson-Cook, a 2027 5-star athlete out of East St. Louis, Illinois, on Wednesday.
Given the fact that Spalding offered him, the Badgers view Johnson-Cook as a running back.
The 5-star talent already had a loaded offer list, holding 40 offers from just about every top school out there, including Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Miami (FL), Notre Dame, and just about every top Big Ten school like Ohio State, Oregon, Michigan, and the in-state Illinois Fighting Illini.
The Badgers may be getting in late here, but we’ve seen them do it before, like with 4-star receiver Jayden Petit, who committed to Wisconsin this summer after only being offered in January of this year.
Wisconsin trending upwards for 4-star in-state offensive tackle
One of the Badgers’ top targets in the 2027 class is in-state offensive tackle Cole Reiter, out of Germantown, Wisconsin.
According to the online recruiting site 247Sports, Reiter is considered a 4-star prospect and the 164th-overall prospect in the 2027 class. He is the 17th-rated offensive tackle in the country and the second-ranked prospect in Wisconsin.
Reiter currently holds only nine national offers, but some of those offers are from schools like Wisconsin, Indiana, Ohio State, Kansas, and Minnesota.
Recently, 247Sports insiders Nick Osen and Jon McNamara logged ‘Crystal Ball’ predictions, which are their predictions where a player will commit, for Reiter to commit to the Badgers.
There’s a long way to go in the 2027 class, as the 2026 cycle won’t even be complete until February of 2026, but the Badgers are seemingly starting off on the right foot with some of their biggest targets. They are also targeting in-state offensive tackle Ethan McIntosh out of Verona, who also has three Crystal Ball predictions in favor of Wisconsin.
