Wisconsin football lands a commitment from 4-star RB Amari Latimer
Wisconsin football lands what is potentially the crown jewel of its 2026 class with the addition of Amari Latimer.

In what could be viewed as the biggest recruiting victory for the Wisconsin football program and its 2026 recruiting class, the Badgers landed a commitment from one of the more highly sought-after prospects in the country, four-star running back Amari Latimer.
Latimer is a composite four-star prospect, according to 247Sports. He is the 17th-ranked running back in the country and the 288th-overall player in the country.
The highly-touted back out of Georgia racked up nearly 50 scholarship offers, including offers from some of the biggest programs in the country. He has offers from Georgia, Michigan, Ohio State, Oregon, Texas, USC, and many more.
Latimer took an official visit to Wisconsin over the last weekend in May, and the Badgers went all out and hit it out of the park. So much so that he cancelled his visit with Michigan that next weekend and then went back to Madison on an unofficial visit at his own expense.
The only other official visit Latimer took was to Georgia Tech, but they were never thought to be much of a threat.
Wisconsin prioritized Latimer so much that they didn’t even pursue another running back prospect that heavily. Last year, they did something similar with Shahn Alston, who eventually committed to USC, but showing a kid they are the only ones they are targeting can go a long way.
The Badgers loaded up on running backs in the 2024 class by adding Darion Dupree, Dilin Jones, and Gideon Ituka. After missing on Alston last cycle, the Badgers are adding Latimer to be the running back of the future.
As a junior, Latimer ran for 1,113 yards and 15 touchdowns. He was also a weapon in the passing game, catching 27 passes for 364 yards and four scores. Latimer is a true weapon on the offensive side of the ball.

Latimer now joins Jayden Petit as the pair of 4-star prospects in the Badgers’ 2026 class. With his commitment, the Badgers jumped 10 spots in the latest 247Sports class rankings, from 47 to 37, right behind Oklahoma. Wisconsin is also 13th in the Big Ten.
