Badgers Stumble in Columbus, Fall 86-69 to Ohio State
Wisconsin's hopes for a double-bye in the Big Ten Tournament took a hit after the Badgers come out flat in a loss to the short-handed Buckeyes.
Hand up. I missed on this one. Badly.
In yesterday’s preview, I looked at the injury report, saw that Ohio State was missing two starters, and predicted a comfortable double-digit victory for the Wisconsin basketball team. I called the Badgers “too hot to bet against.”
Turns out, the only thing “comfortable” about Tuesday night was how easy Bruce Thornton made it look against the Wisconsin defense.
In a harsh reality check, Wisconsin walked into Value City Arena and got punched in the mouth, falling 86-69 to a depleted Ohio State squad. The loss snaps the Badgers’ momentum and serves as a reminder that in the Big Ten, “on paper” doesn’t mean a thing.
Let’s get into what went wrong for the Badgers in their eighth loss of the season.
