Wisconsin football target Jowell Combay commits to SEC school
The Badgers will continue to look at options at the safety position after Jowell Combay commits to Tennessee

The 2026 recruiting class for the Wisconsin football team is nearing completion. One position the Badgers are still looking to add to is safety. One of their top remaining targets at the position is Jowell Combay, out of Kell High School in Marietta, Georgia.
The safety released his top five schools near the beginning of June. The list included Wisconsin along with Georgia, Tennessee, Missouri, and South Carolina.
According to the 247Sports Composite, which averages the grades from all recruiting sites, including Rivals and On3, Combay is a 3-star prospect and the 635th-ranked prospect nationally, regardless of position. He is the 49th-ranked safety and the 71st overall prospect out of Georgia.
The Badgers recently hosted Combay on an official visit in June. While things went well between the safety and the Badgers, the pull of the SEC and Tennessee was too great for Wisconsin to overcome. Combay announced his commitment to Tennessee today, ending the Badgers’ hopes of landing the Georgia prospect.
Where do the Badgers go from here?
The Badgers already have safety Zachary Taylor (Austin, TX) in their 2026 class, who committed to the Badgers in June, and the staff is extremely excited about him. He is an extremely athletic player who brings versatility and a lot of speed to the position.
3-star safety Nick Reddish (Charlotte, NC) is another big target for the Wisconsin coaching staff. While the Badgers may have closed the gap considerably during his official visit in May, Notre Dame has always been considered the favorite to land Reddish, who will announce his commitment on July 11th. Right now, all signs point to the Irish landing the North Carolina native.
Outside of Reddish, Combay, and Tony Forney Jr, who just committed to Missouri, there aren’t a lot of targets left that the Badgers have actively pursued. They may keep looking and start pushing for some other safety prospects after the dead period ends at the start of September.
